Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Cooked Meat Handling: Work with cooked meat products, primarily ham.
  • Physical Requirements: Repetitive hand, arm, and shoulder movement. Stand on concrete for 8-12 hours daily. Lift boxes weighing 30-60 lbs.

Packing Tasks:

  • Ink Jet Printer: Arrange product on a conveyor belt to guide it in front of the inkjet for labeling.
  • Sticky Labels: Remove labels from an automatic roll and place them on products as they move on the conveyor.
  • Pre-Price: Lift product (5-20 lbs.) from the conveyor belt, weigh it, apply scale-generated labels, and return it to the conveyor at 40 PPM (pieces per minute).
  • Stripping Casing/Netting: Use a knife to remove tail clips and casing or netting from the product, gripping and pulling at 10 PPM.
  • Racking: Remove product (5-35 lbs.) from flat or press racks to feed the production line, requiring gripping, lifting, twisting, and bending at 20 PPM.
  • Hang Racking: Remove product (10-25 lbs.) from hanging racks, gripping and lifting from notched bars with twisting and bending.
  • Racking Movement: Push/pull metal racks of product weighing 800-2000 lbs. with two team members. Empty racks (500-800 lbs.) can be moved by one person.
  • Boxing: Place product (5-35 lbs.) into empty boxes below the stand at 40 PPM. Boxes are moved via conveyor to the case sealer and CPA room.
  • Bagging: Slide/push product into a pre-prepared bag, requiring repetitive pushing and gripping at 20 PPM.
  • Palletizing: Remove boxes from the conveyor belt to an automatic pallet lift, lifting boxes (8-60 lbs.) repetitively to stack on a pallet.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Forklift and Pallet Jack: Activity in the area requires awareness of equipment operations.
  • Temperature Conditions: Work in cool, damp conditions (32-50 degrees).
  • Ham Steak Handling: Slide and push products (60-65 lbs.) from the conveyor to the product lift/table.
  • Product Handling: Reach to upper conveyors for sliced product (3-10 lbs.), and lift and move product repetitively to the production line.
  • Packing Plastic Pockets: Place individual slices (1 lb. or less) into plastic pockets.
  • Product Feed: Feed product (3-5 lbs.) through a metal horn into plastic netting with repetitive pushing.
  • Box Handling: Partially lift/slide boxes (45-50 lbs.) from the table onto the conveyor.
  • Scale Monitoring: Prepare scale, apply labels, and monitor boxes on the scale. If a box stops, carry it back to the start of the process.

Rework Process:

  • Product Rework: Remove product from leaker bin, cut and remove sealed bag, place product in a vat/hopper on wheels, and push to the production line. Remove product from the hopper and place on conveyor for rework, using a knife to open sealed bags, and perform gripping, pushing, and pulling (50-200 lbs.) as needed.

PAY RATE –   $15.60 - $19.60
